Staining (ASTM D925)

Staining (ASTM D925)

Some rubber materials including certain additives that are used to improve a certain physical property have a side affect which is staining. In many rubber products the rubber product is in contact with other components. For example in rubber floor mats, it is common for rubber mats to be in contact with carpet, plastic components and also the user. Over time some rubber compounds can actually leave staining marks onto the other surfaces that come into contact with the rubber product.

Rubber Mexico has the experience, ability to testing the level of staining and knowhow in what materials to use to meet levels of staining required for our customers' products. The most common test that we use to determine the level of staining is ASTM D925 which a sample is place under specific environmental conditions and then the plate that is in contact with the rubber specimen is inspecte for any staining marks.
