Heat Aging (ASTM D573)

Heat Aging (ASTM D573)

A common requirement for compounds that Rubber Mexico manufactures is for the rubber to have a certain level of heat resistance. The most common ways that we validate the heat resistance is using ASTM D573 and ASTM D865. In these tests rubber sheets are cured in a press and then dumbells are die cut from these sheet samples to a specific shape. These samples are then placed in an oven for a specific temperature and time depending on the customer requirement.

After the aging in the oven the physical properties are taking of these rubber samples and compared to the physical properties before the aging process. By doing this we are able to have concrete numbers regarding how much aging the rubber compound a specific temperature for a specific amount of time affects the physical properties of the rubber compound.

By being able to measure the temperature resistance of our rubber compounds internally, we are able to guide our customers in regards to what compound could work best for their application and set expectations accordingly. With experience we have been able to make improvements to our compounds to be able to meet even the most tough temperature requirements for our compounds.

Reach out to Rubber Mexico for all your rubber needs, we can meet the toughest of requirements, including high temperature resistance!
